土耳其美食

The cuisines of the Aegean, Marmara and Mediterranean regions are rich in vegetables, herbs, and fish. Central Anatolia has many famous specialties, such as keşkek, mantı (especially from Kayseri) and gözleme. Food names directly cognate with mantı are also found in Chinese (mantou or steamed bun) and Korean cuisine (mandu).

quote Really enjoyed our meal at Sultans! The beef kebab, mixed grill plate and chicken wings were all delicious and all their sauces taste so fresh, especially the garlic sauce, garlic yogurt, Sultan’s spicy and hummus. The staff were friendly, the vibe was nice, and the place felt clean and comfortable (not stuffy like some other kebab restaurants). Everything was great, would be perfect if they had a few more high chairs for kids!

quote This is my go to kebab place. From all of the kebab shops I’ve tried in this area of town, this is the absolute best!

quote The owner and staff were incredibly welcoming & friendly which made the whole visit feel warm and relaxed. The food was next level. Huge portions, full of flavour, and seriously good value for money. I walked out full, happy, and genuinely impressed. Definitely my new go to spot for the area, can’t recommend them enough.

quote My partner and I stopped by Sumak after being recommended to eat there by a friend, and couldn’t be more impressed! Arriving with a craving for Mediterranean food, and greeted by such warm and friendly service, we had to try a bit of everything: We started with the soups(!) - lentil soup and lamb soup. Both were delicious and hearty without being heavy. My only wish is that the weather was colder (dare I say), as either would be the perfect cosy meal! The mixed grill platter was the star of the show! Every meat was cooked tender over charcoal, full of flavour, and the platter was so generous for the price point - especially compared to similar restaurants in Brisbane. In our experience, it was an ample portion to share between at least two hungry people. The sides and salads are worth it. We got to try several dips, which you can just taste are made with love everyday. My favourite was the carrot dip, which had a subtle sweetness, but the eggplant dip and hummus were also exemplary. The pomegranate seeds added a sweet zing to the cabbage salad and the acidity complimented the smoky flavours of the shish - a perfect combo! The Sumak space itself packs in plenty of undercover seating amongst a beautiful leafy pocket so close to the QUT campus! There’s also plenty of street parking available, but during busy periods there is always underground parking across the street at Woollies (2 hours free). Sumak is a must-try!
