Asian

Asia, being the largest and most populous continent, is home to many cultures, many of which have their own characteristic cuisine. While rice is common to most Asian cuisines, different varieties are popular in the various regions. Glutinous rice is ingrained in the culture, religious tradition and national identity of Laos. Basmati rice is popular in the Indian subcontinent, jasmine rice is often found across Southeast Asia, while long-grain rice is popular in China and short-grain in Japan and Korea. Curry is a common dish in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and East Asia. Curry dishes have their origins in the Indian subcontinent, with present-day Northern India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan mainly using a yogurt base, while those in present-day Southern India, Sri Lanka, and Southeast Asia generally use coconut milk as their foundation.

Our Customer Reviews

quote The food was delicious but the quantity was quite disappointing for the prices. Tables, cutlery, glasses were very clean and faultless. Very chilled tap water was also a plus. The timing and sequence for the delivery of the main dishes were unsatisfactory, though. It just took too long even when the restaurant was almost empty and didn’t seem to have many take-away orders, either. Service over all was nothing special. I wouldn’t go back.

quote This is old school service, great prices and great food. We were blown away by how lovely the staff were and equally happy with the quality. We ordered 2 x kids cheeseburger meals and one steak sw to share, plus a dim sim. Everything was delicious but they forgot the dimsim. It was no worries though as we decided to eat in the Cafe. To remedy the mistake they gave us 2x dim Sims instead of the 1 we initially ordered. If you are in the area definitely pay this place a visit. Amazing!!

quote Absolutely outstanding! Indian Curry Star delivers an unforgettable dining experience. The flavors are rich, authentic, and beautifully balanced — every dish we tried was cooked to perfection. The butter chicken was incredibly tender and packed with flavor, and the naan was fresh, fluffy, and delicious. The staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive, making sure everything was perfect from start to finish. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, ideal for a relaxed night out. Easily the best Indian food in Ballarat — can’t wait to come back! Highly recommend!

quote Located near Sovereign Hill, this is the best Fish n Chip we had for a long time. Friendly staff over the counter. Ordered a family pack and a large BBQ pizza. The butter fish is fresh, batter is cooked to prefection. The fries are crunchy. Pizza is awesome. Definitely recommended!

quote The burgers here are so good! I've tried a few different ones but the one that stood out the most was the one with pulled pork. Better than any of the other burger places in Dunedin imo. Haven't tried anything else from here, though!
