Malaysian

Because Peninsular Malaysia shares a common history with Singapore, it is common to find versions of the same dish across both sides of the border regardless of place of origin, such as laksa and chicken rice. Rice is the most important staple food in Malaysia. A popular dish based on rice in Malaysia is nasi lemak, rice steamed with coconut milk and pandan leaves to give it a rich fragrance.

Our Customer Reviews

quote My wife and I visited Wellington while we are on our North Island holiday in New Zealand. While here, we craved some comfort food and we are so happy we did, because it led us to this amazing restaurant. We can vouch that the food is absolutely amazing. We actually had food from there twice (dined in once, and had an uber delivery for the other). We tried the chicken 65, chicken kothu roti/parota, chicken biryani and the murtabak. All the dishes were brilliant. Full of flavour and freshly made. We highly recommend trying this place if you are looking for some authentic south Indian or Malaysian food. Thank you to the owner for his friendly service. Worth supporting this nice little restaurant. Venue is clean, well lit and welcoming.

quote August 2025: What a great find. Was walking along the lane towards Glenferrie train station when I noticed this restaurant. Apparently, it opened only 6 months prior. I am local and was not aware of this new establishment. Very pleased to see this restaurant in this location. The Penang White Curry Mee is not a dish you find in most Malaysian restaurants in Melbourne. I was pleasantly surprised to see a photo of this dish (amongst other great dishes) on their front wall. That's not all, it is priced much less than asian dishes prior to 2020. Congratulations to the owners of this restaurant for making it affordable for students and locals alike who seek out & enjoy genuine Malaysian Chinese cuisine. Will definitely be back to sample all the other dishes with friends. The staff members are very friendly and attentive. They will answer any questions you may have with a smile. I really enjoyed dining here. I highly recommend this restaurant 👌

quote The food here is one of the best I’ve ever eaten, especially the mee goreng (delicious), and loads of the other foods is good too. The service is excellent too, the instant we sat down a waiter came over to ask how many people will be in our party, and gave us water as well. The price is also very friendly, 10 dollars for literally a whole plate of noodles?!?! The atmosphere is good too, calming music, works of art on the wall, and a road sign standing in the middle of the shop, adding even more to the already perfect interior of the restaurant. Generally, it’s a 10 out of 10 restaurant, and is very much worth a try.

quote On the list for me top 3 Malaysian restaurants in Auckland (as of August 2025). Petaling serves up great food with great service. My pick to try are the butter floss range of dishes and the Kam Heong chicken. Make sure to book if you’re attempting to visit on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday 🤪
