Malaysian

Because Peninsular Malaysia shares a common history with Singapore, it is common to find versions of the same dish across both sides of the border regardless of place of origin, such as laksa and chicken rice. Rice is the most important staple food in Malaysia. A popular dish based on rice in Malaysia is nasi lemak, rice steamed with coconut milk and pandan leaves to give it a rich fragrance.

Our Customer Reviews

quote Searched for restaurants in nth hobart, most were full of customers. Found this small unassuming diner"Saigon express" three of them in the main drag. Chose the unlicenced middle one . On first appearance it looked quite drab, noticed a seafood sizzling hot plate advertised without noodle or rice for $27. WELL , did I get MORE than I had expected... Prawns ,squid seared with fresh red capsicum ,ginger, spring onion shallots, brocolli, cauliflower, carrot along with the most delicious stock/ sauce. All cooked too an absolute perfect level still alldente and juicy. I asked about byo and was told yes and not even charged corkage!. Sometimes, looks can be deceiving, I would recommend this authentic Vietnamese diner for any person looking for a fresh / healthy dinner without the pomp and ceremony that most upmarket restaurants base their menu prices on. I will return too try out many of my other Viet dishes featured on the expansive menu... Staff are all friendly Darlings xx

quote Ate here a few times and was satisfied with the food and serving size for the price. Had rice, noodles, and chicken for the meals I had. It’s quick, cheap and most importantly it’s open late at night when no other restaurants are open in Hobart. My go-to food in the evenings at times. Just next door to Woolies

quote The food is excellent, the portions are generous, and the flavor is incredible. Prices are very reasonable. Service was also great — the guy who helped us at the counter was super friendly and attentive. We decided to eat there, but we noticed they also get a lot of takeaway orders, which speaks well of the place. We'd definitely come back!

quote Our first visit to this Vietnamese restaurant, the staff was friendly and with warm smile, our food was served very quickly. It was delicious, crispy rice paper was yummilicous, chicken soup my husband loved it. My vegetarian noodles was cooked to perfection. We enjoyed our meal here. Highly recommended. Thank you chef.
