Thai cooking places emphasis on lightly prepared dishes with strong aromatic components and a spicy edge. Today Thai food is its own, with a special unique blend of the 5 tastes: sweet, sour, bitter, salty, and spicy.
I tried this restaurant for lunch and was greeted by a lady with a warm, friendly smile. I ordered the big bento and really loved the dumplings. The teriyaki was good but nothing too special, while the mixed tempura was nice and crunchy. I just wish they included a small bowl of miso soup, as it would have made the experience even better. The restaurant itself is quite small, so seating is limited.

I'm a regular customer at this restaurant. Their dumplings are super nice, and sometimes they have daily specials. If u don’t want dumplings, their stir-fries and noodles are also pretty good!

The food is excellent, the portions are generous, and the flavor is incredible. Prices are very reasonable. Service was also great — the guy who helped us at the counter was super friendly and attentive.
We decided to eat there, but we noticed they also get a lot of takeaway orders, which speaks well of the place.
We'd definitely come back!

Absolutely amazing! This bowl of noodles was pure perfection. The noodles were cooked just right, and you could really taste the freshness of every ingredient. What made it even better was the owner’s warm and attentive service—truly made me feel welcome. I will definitely be coming back again and again! Highly recommend!

Searched for restaurants in nth hobart, most were full of customers. Found this small unassuming diner"Saigon express" three of them in the main drag. Chose the unlicenced middle one . On first appearance it looked quite drab, noticed a seafood sizzling hot plate advertised without noodle or rice for $27.
WELL , did I get MORE than I had expected...
Prawns ,squid seared with fresh red capsicum ,ginger, spring onion shallots, brocolli, cauliflower, carrot along with the most delicious stock/ sauce. All cooked too an absolute perfect level still alldente and juicy.
I asked about byo and was told yes and not even charged corkage!.
Sometimes, looks can be deceiving, I would recommend this authentic Vietnamese diner for any person looking for a fresh / healthy dinner without the pomp and ceremony that most upmarket restaurants base their menu prices on. I will return too try out many of my other Viet dishes featured on the expansive menu...
Staff are all friendly Darlings xx
